| The story is set in America where unemployment has skyrocketed, poverty has hit record highs and even worse there is a new super drug out on the streets called ”V”. In this very different America from the one we know today the lottery has collapsed due to high unemployment and the huge national dept burdening the country. The people of this new America need something to inspire them and to get them up in the morning. This is where the WordMeter and the WordLotto come into existence. The WordMeter is attached to every person in America at the age of 14 and basically it subtracts every word you say from the total on your WordMeter. When that total reaches 0 your life is over. The WordLotto is the biggest event in the new America and everyone wants to win it because if you do win you then receive 1.5 million new words added to you WordMeter. Winning the WordLotto transforms people into immediate celebrities and opens a wide selection of career opportunities because being in a world of limited words you have to be careful not to waste them on meaningless things such as fighting with people and talking to yourself. But if you do win the WordLotto you can basically win any argument because they can’t waste the words arguing with you. Brennan is a advocate for the word commission department and who is the focal point of this audio book, helps people that have filed cases against the word commission office about their WordMeters and helps them legally in getting them reinstated. |
